In 2021, SEPLEU — the Union of Graduate Educators and Teachers — chose DataRoad - IT Services and Consulting to build its entire IT infrastructure from scratch and then manage it under an annual IT Unlimited contract. The project brought together a server, identity management, perimeter security, two-tier backup, Wi-Fi and monitoring into a coherent whole, in which each element reinforces the others.

Why a server on its own is not enough
Each component closes off a different risk:
- Without Active Directory, access is scattered and hard to audit.
- Without a firewall and VPN, remote access is exposed.
- Without two-tier backup — local NAS and off-site copy — data is at the mercy of a hardware failure, but also of a fire or theft on the premises.
