Design before installation

We survey the space, design the cable routes and validate them with you before the first cable is pulled.

Certification per point

Every outlet is measured and receives a report, checked against the limits of the category contracted.

Management and documentation

We record what is connected to each port — and why. Your network no longer depends on anyone's memory.

Switching and PoE power

Equipment sized for what the network will need to support, not for what costs least today.

Structured cabling

business networks with certification included

We install and certify CAT6 and CAT6A structured networks, certified with Fluke equipment and handed over with a point-by-point report. Every project includes a preliminary survey, a cable route plan, rack assembly and organisation, labelling of every outlet and performance testing.

We have certified installations of 456 network points in public buildings and installed 6,000 metres of cabling in a datacentre. We work in occupied buildings, phasing the work so operations never stop.

At the end you receive complete documentation: network map, certification reports and a warranty on the installation.

A well-designed network is invisible: everything works, every day. An improvised network costs money — slowness, dropped connections and hours of lost staff time. DataRoad designs your local network architecture around how your business operates: sized for what you need today, ready to grow tomorrow and documented so it never depends on anyone's memory.

We install certified structured cabling — Category 6, 6A, 7 and optical fibre — with design, testing and warranty. For a decision-maker, this means one simple thing: an infrastructure that will support your company's growth for the next 15 years, with no repeat building work and no budget surprises.

Not every site can be connected by cable — warehouses, industrial units or separate buildings are linked with professional wireless bridges. Our certified engineers choose the right technology for each case and guarantee a stable, secure connection between all of your company's premises.

IT networks for businesses

A robust IT network is much more than neatly run cables: it's certified structured cabling, business Wi-Fi sized for the real load, properly configured switching and firewall, and a documented rack that any engineer can understand. It's that combination — designed, installed to standard and tested at the end — that distinguishes a professional network from one that works until the day the load increases.

Measured certification

Every point is tested with certification equipment and handed over with a report.

Cat6A and fibre

Copper to the desks, fibre between racks and floors.

A tidy rack

Patch panels, labelling and cable management — for whoever comes next.

Documented

A floor plan with outlet numbering, handed to the client at the end of the job.

Why certification matters

A badly terminated cable works. It connects, it transfers files, nobody complains — until there's real traffic, video surveillance, PoE or a meeting with everyone on the same switch. That's when frame errors, intermittent drops and the hunt for a problem nobody can reproduce begin. Certification testing measures attenuation, crosstalk and length on every pair, and tells you, outlet by outlet, whether the installation meets the standard. Without that report, the network is unproven.

What we install

Cat6A copper cabling

Network points for workstations, printers, access points and cameras, with two points per workstation.

Optical fibre

Links between racks, floors and buildings, with splice enclosures and optical testing.

Racks and power

Properly sized, ventilated and lockable racks, with patch panels, cable organisers and UPS.

Switching and PoE

Managed switches with PoE power for access points, cameras and phones.

Trunking and infrastructure

Cable routes, trunking and chasing, carried out with as little building work as possible.

Video surveillance

Cabling and points for IP cameras, on the same infrastructure.

How a project runs

  1. SurveyA visit to the premises, floor plans and the number of points per zone.
  2. Design and quoteRoutes, quantities and timelines, with the price fixed before work begins.
  3. InstallationCable pulling, termination and rack assembly, phased so operations don't stop.
  4. CertificationEvery point tested, with the report and numbered floor plan handed over.

Frequently asked questions

Is certification charged separately?

No. It's included — an installation without a certification report is not a finished installation.

How many points per workstation?

Two, as a rule. It costs little more during installation and avoids desktop switches and cables across the floor a year later.

Can it be done while the office is in use?

Yes, in phases and with the noisiest work done out of hours. It's the most common scenario.

Do you work on new builds or only existing premises?

Both. On a new build it's cheaper and cleaner, because we work alongside the contractor instead of correcting things afterwards.

Do you certify cabling installed by others?

Yes. We test it and hand over a report on its real condition — we often find installations that pass a basic test and fail certification.

What's the difference between Cat6 and Cat6A cabling?

Cat6 supports 1 Gbps up to 100 metres and 10 Gbps only over short distances. Cat6A sustains 10 Gbps over the full 100 metres and offers better protection against interference, which is why it's our recommendation for new offices, PoE-powered Wi-Fi access points and networks that will grow. DataRoad installs and certifies both.

What does the certification report include?

Every outlet is tested with Fluke equipment and receives a point-by-point report, checked against the limits of the category contracted (Cat6 or Cat6A). You receive the report, the labelling of every outlet and the rack documentation.

How much does it cost to install structured cabling in a business?

The price depends on the number of points, distances, cable routes and type of building, so the quote is finalised after an on-site survey, with no commitment. DataRoad takes responsibility for maintaining and managing the installed network under the IT Unlimited contract, with prices from €395 per month (+ VAT): see prices.

Does DataRoad install a single network point?

No. We take on larger projects (offices, warehouses, hotels, clinics and premises with multiple rooms) for companies with more than 10 workstations and a support contract.

How long does certified structured cabling last?

Well-designed, properly installed and certified cabling should support your company's growth for around 15 years, with no repeat building work. It's the network layer that is replaced least often, so it pays to size it for the future.

Does DataRoad carry out installations outside Lisbon?

Yes. We're headquartered in Alfragide, with support throughout Portugal. The survey is carried out on site and ongoing management combines remote, on-site and telephone support.
