Office relocation without stopping the business: network and IT ready on day one

The cost is not in the computers, it is in the hours when the team cannot work. An internet line that has not been activated, a network socket with no connection or Wi-Fi that drops in the meeting room turn the first week into a management problem. Carrier internet activations can take weeks, so they must be ordered before the move date is fixed, not after.

The most common mistake is treating the move as logistics and IT as a detail for the end. It is the opposite: IT decides whether the company opens its doors with everything working.

• Site visit and survey. We measure the new space, count workstations, rooms, printers and critical equipment, and define where each cable runs and where each access point goes.
• Written plan. Dates, shutdown and start-up order, owners and a plan B for each critical service.
• Infrastructure ready before the team. Cabling, rack, switches, firewall and Wi-Fi installed and tested in the new space.
• Moving day. Workstations, printers, servers and phones are disconnected, transported and reconnected in order, with tests on each one.
• First week. A technical team follows operations and resolves what only shows up with real use.

A new space offers something an old office never had: the chance to design the right network first time. We design structured cabling with every socket measured, business Wi-Fi based on on-site measurement with a heat map at handover, and a tidy, documented rack.

Security is part of the design: a managed firewall, networks separated by profile (staff, guests, equipment) and stronger authentication on accounts.

An office is more than computers. We handle the migration of internet lines (with redundancy when the project justifies it), the phone system, printers, storage and servers, and we confirm that Microsoft 365, backups and remote access keep working at the new address.

The installation is quoted per project. Afterwards, DataRoad is responsible for maintaining and managing the network it installed, under the IT Unlimited contract, with remote, on-site and phone support and immediate response times.

Essential starts at 395 € per month + VAT (from 10 workstations, remote and phone support), Premium at 750 € and Premium 365 at 1,200 €, both with unlimited on-site assistance; Premium 365 adds nights, weekends and holidays. Prices are starting prices: the final figure depends on network size, printers, NAS and critical systems.

How far in advance should I contact DataRoad?

Ideally as soon as the new space is chosen, before the date is fixed, so we can order internet from the carriers and plan the cabling. If the date is already close, we will tell you frankly what is possible.

Does the move stop the business?

The goal is that it does not. The new infrastructure is ready before the team arrives and workstations, phones and servers are migrated in order, so the business can work in the new space as early as possible.

Do you only handle the move, or also the new office network?

Both: installing the network from scratch, moving the existing infrastructure, or combining the two.

Do you work outside Lisbon?

Our headquarters are in Alfragide and we provide support across Portugal.

Do you work with small companies?

We work with companies from 10 workstations and larger projects, always under a support contract. We do not do one-off interventions or sell equipment on its own.

Who manages the network after the move?

DataRoad does. The installed network moves into the IT Unlimited contract (annual, automatically renewed, with 60 days notice) and the same team that installed it stays responsible for it.
