  • 04IT Unlimited from €395/month + VAT, for companies from 10 workstations.

In a logistics operation, ten minutes without systems is enough to leave lorries at the gate without transport documents. DataRoad - IT Services and Consulting has acted as an MSP in Setúbal since 2015, managing networks and IT for companies in Setúbal, Barreiro, Almada, Seixal, Montijo and Palmela. Industry, logistics and private healthcare are our ground. From our head office in Alfragide we provide remote and telephone support with immediate response and on-site intervention on the peninsula, under an IT Unlimited contract from €395 per month + VAT and with a written SLA.

Why does a network on the peninsula fail where an office would not?

The Setúbal Peninsula has heavy and manufacturing industry, port-linked warehouses, growing private clinics and offices that left Lisbon because of rents. In any of these businesses, downtime has an immediate price.

  • Harsh conditions Dust, humidity, vibration and cold-store temperatures wear out cables that would last decades in an office.
  • Terminals on the move Barcode scanners across thousands of square metres are nothing like reading email in a room.
  • Dispatch with no margin If the system goes down, the load does not leave.
  • No in-house engineer Most of these companies depend entirely on an IT partner.
  • Crossing the Tagus Twenty kilometres at rush hour can mean forty minutes. The real arrival time has to be in the contract.

How do you design business Wi-Fi for a full warehouse?

By measuring on site, never by guessing from a floor plan. Ten thousand square metres of metal shelving up to the ceiling reflect, absorb and hide the signal in ways no simulation software predicts.

We carry out the survey with the stock in place and at the terminals' working height: the forklift's, not that of an engineer standing up. Access points are powered via PoE from the rack. The production network is isolated from the administrative one. And the transition between factory floor and office, where the signal usually disappears, is designed deliberately. The mistake we see most in Setúbal: treating an industrial unit like a large office. In a warehouse, coverage and cable quality matter more than the bandwidth contracted from the carrier.

What cabling withstands a production line?

Mechanical protection on exposed runs, closed trunking instead of open cable tray and racks out of the forklifts' reach. Every point is certified and documented: in a factory nobody can waste time tracing cables.

In cold stores we use materials designed for temperature swings and condensation, with routes that allow maintenance without switching off the refrigeration. Because a stopped network costs by the hour, the works proceed in phases, on a schedule agreed with production. Details in structured cabling, switching and PoE.

Before you spend: what does an infrastructure audit reveal?

Almost always, a network built from patches. A new switch when the unit next door opened, another server for an application, backups set up by someone who has since left. Each element works on its own; nobody can explain the whole, and it is the whole that fails. Often the office is well looked after and the operational area, where the money is made, has been left behind.

The audit takes place on your premises and ends with a written document:

  1. Map of what exists — equipment, connections, network and rack in a diagram.
  2. Timed restore — we restore real data, rather than just checking the backup ran.
  3. Licences — it is common to find workstations paid for twice.
  4. Risks in euros — ranked by financial impact, not theoretical technical severity.
  5. A 12, 24 and 36-month roadmap — with costs and dates, ready for the budget meeting.

Price and timeline fixed upfront. The report is yours: some have used it to renegotiate with their current provider. Full method in IT consulting for businesses.

Questions from companies on the Setúbal Peninsula

What on-site arrival time is guaranteed?

Whatever is written in the contract, counted from when the incident is opened. An SLA that only defines remote response leaves out what matters most in this region.

Do you keep replacement equipment?

Yes, for critical equipment covered by the contract. Without stock, a switch that fails on a Saturday only comes back when the order arrives.

Do you install networks in cold stores?

Yes. We use materials designed for low temperatures and condensation, with routes that allow maintenance while the store keeps running.

What is the minimum client size?

10 workstations, with a support contract and a direct relationship with the end client. Many of these companies have nobody dedicated to IT, and that is where the managed model pays off most.

Where else do we manage networks and IT?

Barreiro, Beja, Faro and the Algarve, Oeiras, Cascais, Sintra and Porto, always from Alfragide and with support nationwide.
