In 2019, Serviced Apartments Boavista Palace, next to Avenida da Boavista in Porto, entrusted DataRoad - IT Services and Consulting with the business wireless network for its 72 apartments, spread over 8 floors. Each apartment got its own Wi-Fi network, independent and isolated from the others, built on enterprise access points, switches with VLANs and a security gateway with redundancy, all under ongoing management and monitoring.

The challenge: long stays and demanding guests
Boavista Palace is located in one of Porto’s most prestigious business districts, close to Carolina Michaëlis metro station. The complex has 72 one-bedroom apartments (T1K and T1+1K), a gym, a terrace, soundproofed interiors with premium finishes and welcome amenities.
With growing demand for premium accommodation and extended stays, the internet is no longer an extra: it has to be fast, reliable and private for domestic and international guests, even with many simultaneous users.
How the network was designed
A coverage study before installation
DataRoad studied the ideal location for each access point and planned full coverage of the 8 floors before any installation.
Enterprise access points and one network per apartment
