ETI Simulation: server room moved in one weekend, with 6000 m of CAT6 structured cabling

The old location limited the network's growth and reliability. The new room was chosen to provide:

Moving the room meant rebuilding the infrastructure: the old cabling was replaced entirely and the floor boxes swapped for higher-capacity models.

Structured cabling

• 6000 metres of CAT6 Gigabit Complete replacement of the existing cabling.
• 108 network points Distributed throughout the office.
• Floor boxes Reorganised and replaced with higher-capacity models.
• Identification Professional labelling and organisation of the entire network.
• Connection to the new room Cable runs to the new server room and integration of all existing workstations.

Fibre optics and racks

• 180 metres of fibre optics — high performance, connected to the switches and racks.
• Three racks — two for communications and one dedicated to servers, prepared, assembled and interconnected.

Certification

• Full certification Of the CAT6 Gigabit cabling.
• Performance tests And validation of the infrastructure.
• Technical reports Delivered to the client.

To avoid affecting ETI's operations, DataRoad reinforced the team with nine certified technicians. Work started at 5 pm on Friday, continued throughout the weekend and finished within the deadline the client set. On Monday, the ETI team walked into an office with a new network and servers in the new room, without having lost an hour of work.
