Clínica Mulher opened a new unit at the Twin Towers in Sete Rios (Espaço 7RIOS), Lisbon, with its entire network infrastructure designed, installed and managed by DataRoad - IT Services and Consulting. That means 192 structured network points, Layer 3 PoE switches, Wi-Fi 7 with separate networks for staff and visitors, an enterprise firewall, a server and a NAS for centralised backups. Everything was ready for the clinic's opening and is now managed under an IT Unlimited contract for around 50 workstations.

The starting point
A clinic depends every day on fast, secure and available systems. The new unit needed a robust network for around 50 workstations, latest-generation Wi-Fi, segmentation and security suited to clinical data, reliable backups and permanent support, all ready before opening, in one of Lisbon's most modern business complexes.
The network architecture
Cabling and core
192 points of structured cabling cover the entire clinic. The core is built on high-performance Layer 3 PoE switches, which power the access points and route traffic between segments.
Segmented Wi-Fi 7
Wi-Fi 7 access points with unified cloud management through an advanced controller. Clinical and administrative staff have a dedicated network; visitors and patients use an isolated, secure guest network.
Firewall, server and backups
The enterprise firewall protects the perimeter, controls traffic and provides secure internet access, with advanced threat mitigation. A server and a dedicated NAS hold the backups.
Why segmentation matters in a clinic
In a healthcare facility, the patient and visitor network must never be able to see the network carrying clinical data. Separating by VLAN, with firewall rules between segments, limits the reach of any compromised device and protects the clinic's most sensitive information.
